VR
After having a close call fumbling with the cell phone while driving on Saturday, I finally setup the bluetooth in the Jeep.
Chrysler doesn't install the microphone in any of their convertible vehicles, because they can't stand behind the poor quality that can occur during top-down operation. However, they are more than willing to provide the components to complete the installation if the user desires.
I desired.
I picked up the parts at the dealer, and turned down the invitation to have them install it for $100.
It was a simple process. Removed the center portion of the dash, pull the radio out to connect the mic to the back of the radio, then route the cable around to a place that it could hear my voice. Made a test call to a tall, thin, blonde lady and asked for a report. Sounds like I'm calling from the empty creamed corn can. Hmm, well, it is a speaker phone...in a truck. I'll take it!
The nice thing with this system: voice recognition control of the radio, GPS and of course, the cell phone. Added some names to the address book, asked the GPS to take me to a few locations, and finally, asked the radio to read off the name of the Playboy station on Sirius. Hot. HOT.
Yeah, the VR voice is a chick's voice.
Nice.
